While Caye Caulker in Belize isn’t necessarily known as a party island, there are a fair few options of places to grab a beer or a cocktail during a hot day or a nice evening. On weekends or special occasions, larger parties are also organised at Caye Caulker bars, if you’re looking to really party. The island’s signature drink, which you can find in any bar, is the delicious Panty Ripper, a mix of pineapple juice and coconut rum. They’re delicious, but devious!
After spending over a month on the island, here is my list of fun bars to hang out, with the best nightlife in Caye Caulker:
Koko King
Koko King on the north side of the island is well known for its monthly full moon parties. However, the parties are a lot more laid back than what you’re thinking about when you hear full moon party, with a location on the only proper sandy beach in Caye Caulker. If you’re not into big parties, you can still head over to Koko King for the day to enjoy the pool and the beach.
Lazy Lizard
The Lazy Lizard is where people often gather to watch the sunset, as the view over the Split is perfect. Lazy Lizard also has hammocks and seats with tables in the water, if you fancy lounging during the day and cooling off. Pricier than most places on the island, it’s still worth the visit at least once just for the sunset.
Sports Bar
While nightlife in Caye Caulker is often focused on the weeked, whatever the day, there is always something happening at the Sports Bar. Quiz nights, live music and parties are why the place is popular with locals and expats alike. Of course, there’s also the sport! Drinks are plentiful and you can also grab some food while you watch the game or impress your friends with your trivia skills.
Bondi Bar
Small, intimate Bondi Bar is the perfect place to stop for a relaxed drink or two. The drinks are strong and the wooden little bar is often a good quieter option, if you can squeeze in.
Bambooze
Colorful Bambooze is located on the beach. With swings as chairs, it is a perfect beach-side spot for both food and drinks, and maybe a cute holiday pic or two!
Sip’n’Dip
With hammocks and swings in the water, Sip’n’Dip is the ultimate daytime hangout serving food and tasty cocktails. I could spend hours here, sitting in the sun, swimming and lounging in the hammocks, living life. A visit to Caye Caulker isn’t complete without a stop here.
Reggae Bar
The Reggae Bar is where everyone on the island tends to head over on the weekends, when others places are closing. It tends to get busy on the bar’s dancefloor in the am and you’re guaranteed to have a good time. Reggae bar is a classic not to be missed when visiting the island!
Margarita Mike’s
Margarita Mike’s is a small bar situated in the busiest (relatively speaking) part of the island. Set right on the beach, the swings invite you to stop by for a margarita or two, with good tunes and good vibes guaranteed.
